Transfermarkt released its latest market value update after Euro 2024 and Copa América to reward the most impressive performances at the two international tournaments. It was a festival of football this summer with Spain the outstanding performers as they won the Euros while Argentina lived up to their pre-tournament billing as favourites by winning Copa America. 

Several youngsters enhanced their already burgeoning reputations on the international stage, especially Lamine Yamal and Kobbie Mainoo. Yamal celebrated his 17th birthday just the day before the final against England but the Barcelona starlet lit up the tournament to confirm his status as a generational talent. Yamal earned a €30 million upgrade post tournament to his new market value of €120m, which makes him the most valuable teenager in the world. But where does Yamal rank in terms of the most valuable players in the world after the latest market value update? And which player takes the top spot? Let’s find out! 

The top 100 most valuable footballers in the world

Four players are currently tied as the most valuable in the world at €180m - Jude Bellingham, Kylian Mbappé, Vinicius Junior and Erling Haaland. Following Mbappe’s move to Madrid this summer, three of the top four most valuable players in the world play for the Champions League holders while Phil Foden joins his Manchester City teammate Haaland in the top five.

As the graphic above illustrates, two Bundesliga players rank in the top ten in German sensations Florian Wirtz and Jamal Musiala both valued at €130m. Yamal moves into the top ten after his incredible rise and he ranks above Declan Rice and Federico Valverde in our top 100 list due to his age - Transfermakt ranks players depending on their youth when their players have the same valuation. There’s seven Real Madrid players within the top 20 while Lautaro Martínez and Victor Osimhen feature from Serie A - there’s no Ligue 1 players in the top 50.
